Disaster Recovery

What is this service?

Disaster Recovery is a focused service that helps you recover data when IT business systems are damaged by natural or man made causes.

Why is this services required?

Most businesses today are profoundly automated and damage to equipment or data can not only interrupt business continuity and inflict financial losses but also threaten the very survival of a company. A disaster recovery solution provides a host of services to ensure business continuity through restoration of data in the following situations:

Damaged Hardware:This includes the following failures within a hard disk due to natural disasters or other imposed damage:

  •     Deformity in the firmware
  •     Tampered tape
  •     Undesirable formatting of hard disk drive
  •     Logical failure
  •     Dropping of a storage device
  •     Disturbed semiconductor

Intentional Damage:Deliberate attempts to delete important data with the intention of harming the business and obstructing the flow of business continuity are often seen in IT and related businesses. In such cases, disaster recovery services help restore the deleted data from the hard disk.

Types of Disaster Recovery

There are two main types of disaster recovery services:

Data Loss Prevention:This type of disaster recovery service places emphasis on enhancing a back-up system to prevent any future loss of data. Having such a system in place ensures quick restoration of the system and business continuity after the disaster. Data loss prevention is a must for large-scale businesses as the loss of any data – no matter how miniscule an amount – can translate into huge losses for the company.

Disaster Recovery Facility:This is the most popular form of a disaster recovery service in the absence of a sound back-up system. Damaged business systems can be restored by using alternative infrastructure and gadgets at a different location. This is extremely crucial for small and medium-sized IT and related businesses. These can be divided into:

  • Cold sites:These are essentially empty spaces with power supply and cooling where you can move in your equipment and start functioning again. No data recovery options are included.
  • Warm sites:These spaces are better than cold sites in that they come with communication equipment for plug-in connectivity. There is also some back-up equipment (servers, storage, etc.) available to begin work on data restoration.
  • Hot sites:These are basically duplicate data centers with all the equipment and connectivity required to switch over and go live almost instantaneously after a disaster has occurred.

No matter what the size of your business, including disaster recovery services within your system is no longer an optional add-on. It is an indispensable element of your IT systems because we simply don't know what kind of danger is lurking round the corner.
